Coming home

My favourite time of the week is Friday night. Friday night means the weekend is here, bringing with it good things like sleeping in and wearing pyjamas all day.

And yet tonight feels like Friday night, even though it is not. This is because tomorrow I will be going to animation class.

I am in the second week of my Diploma of Animation (well, actually, the Diploma of Screen and Media specilising in Animation) and I love it so much that I'm worried I'll wake up tomorrow morning and find that it's all a dream.

For most of my life, I've felt like a square peg being forced into a succession of round holes. I've been pushed into places where I don't belong, by my parents (who just wanted me to be happy, I understand that), by the expectations of others (money! Prestige!), by fear and indecision, by myself and confused idea of what success entails.

So it is wondrous to find that I am good at something, something that feels natural and right, and knowing that it's all going to be alright. I don't know how. I just do.

Your course sounds exciting.are you studying at one of Perth's universities or a private instutution? One of my best friends is really into animation and we didn't know there are reputable animation courses in WA

Depends on what you would like to to: there's the Multimedia Design course at Curtin University--I know someone who did that course and went on to work for Rising Sun in Adelaide, there's the Games Art course at Murdoch University, and then there's the Diploma of Screen and Media - Animation at the Film and Television Institute of WA.

That sounds so exciting! I'm so excited for you :D

Luckily, I've always been a person to fight against what people wanted for me so no one ever expected anything from me. And this, I believe, is one of the reasons why I don't hold a degree or have any idea what I want to do with my life.

It's okay though, right? I mean, I still have some time before I'm 25 LOL XD
