Guess what this (food) is #1

The rest of the family recently came back from South East Asia,
and brought back one of my favourite foods . . .

Not sure what it is? Let's have a closer look . . . OK, now it looks like something the probe from Mars sent back . . .

The answer is . . .

Hey! That label's wrong! It's actually called PORK FLOSS. I have NO idea why the packaging says "Shreded Pork Stick". It's like cotton candy/fairy floss, but meaty! Mmmm . . . meaty.

I love meat floss! In fact, I have a jar of it on my shelf at uni, good for a quick snack when I need a quick savoury hit. Unfortunately though, I think it's expired (I haven't eaten it for some time). I must remember to check next time I am there (ewwww, festering floss).

Ah, we have something similar in Northern Mexico...But we mix it with scrambled eggs! We call it "machaca"...There's something about the name "meat floss" that makes me cringe!

Yeah, it's good stuff! I'm not sure if you can get any here in Perth that's palatable. One of the few foods you have to travel o/seas for, including ba kua, I reckon.

It all sounds good! pork floss, I believe, is one of those very adaptable foods. I like it to make a plate of plain rice interesting, or even rice porridge. It's also quite tasty on fresh white bread. Basically anything fairly bland, but with something that contrasts with the crunchy sweet-salty taste. Mmm . . .

I like the idea of flossing with pork products myself.

Or am I missing something here?

it looks.... furry.

I can't imagine myself eating furry food.

Have you seen how they make fairy floss? In my mind, I imagine your meat floss is made by throwing a pig into that machine.

If you succeed in flossing with fairy floss, then you'd probably be able to floss with this stuff too.

RaZer:
It IS furry, deliciously crunchy and then melt-in-your-mouth furry.

That is so neat looking. Is it soft? It looks soft.

Hi Genevieve! It IS soft, but some bits are crunchy too. Man, I wish this was the year 2300 and you guys could just put your Virtua-Tastebuds in and try it out!
